Although Chemo Therapy can be an effective treatment for cancer, the side effects can be problematic.

Chemo therapy kills fast-growing cells which it is why works so well, however, it can also bring a vast list of side effects with it. Side effects may include hair loss, immune system depletion, swelling of the feet and hands, the seemingly inevitable nausea and vomiting, fatigue, easy bruising and bleeding, anemia, appetite changes, constipation, diarrhea, mouth, tongue, and throat problems such as sores and pain with swallowing. The list continues with nerve and muscle problems such as numbness, tingling, and pain, skin and nail changes such as dry skin and color change, urine and bladder changes, kidney problems, weight changes, “chemo brain,” which can affect concentration and focus, mood swings, changes in libido and sexual function, and fertility problems.

How CBD Works To Relieve Chemo Therapy Side Effects

Within our bodies we have what’s called an endocannabinoid system or (ECS). This system acts as a messenger for many functions throughout the body and is implicit in the settlement of pain. These receptors within our ECS are present in the pain circuits of the sensory nerve in the brain. Studies from the British Journal of Pharmacology, as well as testimonials from cancer patients using CBD in conjunction with chemo therapy, suggest that the CBD works well in controlling nausea and vomiting. It is also known to effectively control inflammation, which is another way it can combat swelling in the feet and hands. CBD is shown to activate the release of serotonin in the brain. This is a chemical that can help relieve anxiety and depression.

Dosing Thoughts

Research studies have used doses from 15mg to as high as 600mg. Typical CBD supplements provide 20mg to 25mg. When taking CBD for cancer, dosing can vary widely depending on the severity of the symptoms you are experiencing. One goal to consider is to use CBD to supplement or possibly replace pharmaceuticals you might be taking. CBD is an all-natural alternative that does not build up in your system and cannot be overdosed.

May we suggest trying one of our CUBED Hemp based CBD Tinctures. Available in 1200mg or 3600mg concentrations, mixed with our exclusive Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Italy or NYS-sourced sunflower seed oil. Our Graduated Sprayer makes it simple to dose properly.

It is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement program. Most prescribed medications cannot and should not be stopped all at once.
It has been suggested to start with a dose of 10mg to 15mg of CBD twice a day. After a few days, you may want to reduce prescribed meds incrementally while increasing your CBD dosage the following day. Steps of 10mg are suggested to help monitor changes. Monitor your symptoms; be aware of how you feel. Don’t hurry the process. Wait 2 to 3 days between changes. This will allow you to determine the dosing that your body requires to meet your goals, while documenting how your medications interact.
